Wall Street closes at a record for the first time since end of January
Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.35% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Engie Brasil Energia SA (BVMF:EGIE3), which rose 4.49% or 2.10 points to trade at 48.82 at the close. Meanwhile, Embraer SA (BVMF:EMBR3) added 4.42% or 3.52 points to end at 83.14 and Cvc Brasil ON (BVMF:CVCB3) was up 4.18% or 0.10 points to 2.49 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BRF SA (BVMF:BRFS3), which fell 2.19% or 0.43 points to trade at 19.19 at the close. Fleury SA (BVMF:FLRY3) declined 1.46% or 0.19 points to end at 12.86 and MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (BVMF:MRVE3) was down 1.44% or 0.09 points to 6.16.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 650 to 283 and 51 ended unchanged.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.95% to 24.61 a new 6-months low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.69% or 23.28 to $3,336.42 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.44% or 0.30 to hit $67.15 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.15% or 3.35 to trade at $287.85 .
USD/BRL was down 0.34% to 5.41, while EUR/BRL fell 0.76% to 6.35.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 96.80.
