Wall Street closes at a record for the first time since end of January
Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Electric Power and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.59%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Fleury SA (BVMF:FLRY3), which rose 14.89% or 1.88 points to trade at 14.51 at the close. Meanwhile, BRF SA (BVMF:BRFS3) added 4.90% or 1.00 points to end at 21.40 and CSN Mineracao SA (BVMF:CMIN3) was up 4.76% or 0.24 points to 5.28 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF:PCAR3), which fell 7.73% or 0.28 points to trade at 3.34 at the close. Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF:MGLU3) declined 3.55% or 0.28 points to end at 7.60 and Cvc Brasil ON (BVMF:CVCB3) was down 3.35% or 0.08 points to 2.31.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 538 to 393 and 49 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 9.70% to 28.17.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.55% or 52.15 to $3,410.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.48% or 0.32 to hit $65.73 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 3.79% or 11.50 to trade at $292.10 .
USD/BRL was down 0.24% to 5.56, while EUR/BRL rose 0.31% to 6.51.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 97.62.
